KATHARINE CRAWFORD ROBEY is the author of children’s books, Hare and the Big Green Lawn, and Where’s the Party? Her collection of short stories is called Cardinal Coat and Other Stories. Mrs. Robey lives in Empire, MI, and Atlanta, GA. She hikes Sleeping Bear Dunes every summer.
Following seven years in prison, Patty finished college and interned for three years at Addiction Treatment Services in Traverse City. She is a state-certified drug and alcohol counselor. She remains active in the recovery community by attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, sponsoring, and sharing her experience and hope. Patty speaks publicly of her personal involvement with active addiction along with her road to recovery. She gave a TED Talk on her experience at the 2017 Traverse City TEDx.

Shaw Investment Company started with Paul G. Shaw, a WWII vet from Missouri. Paul purchased a cherry farm and moved his wife Mary and his two sons, John and Robert to a farm house in Yuba, Michigan. The cherry farm became the family business until 1998 when it was sold and a majority of the land including a vibrant wetlands ecosystem was donated to The Nature Conservancy in Yuba.
